A magical hike: The Witches’ Trail in Fiss – a family adventure full of magic
Ideal for children from approx. 5 years
How do you turn a hike into an exciting adventure that will delight children and amaze adults? It’s simple: follow in the footsteps of witches, elves and magic! The Witches’ Trail in Fiss is perfect for families who want to experience more than just nature during their vacation at the Haus Sonnenterrasse apartment in Fiss. Here, the mountain becomes the stage for a fairytale puzzle game through the forest.
Let’s go – with the gondola into adventure
The starting point is at the Schönjochbahn middle station: the valley station is located directly behind our house and is only a few minutes’ walk away. Take your family to the middle station and start your adventure!
If you like, you can pick up the adventure puzzle pad in advance at the information office or at the Schönjochbahn valley station (contribution towards costs: € 3) or as an app.
Start of the Witches’ Trail adventure
The Witches’ Trail begins directly below the middle station … and this is no ordinary hiking trail: huge books hang between the trees, you can hear mysterious noises in the forest and along the way you also have to master balancing acts and solve tricky puzzles. Skill, creativity and a little courage are required.
A forest to marvel at
The trail runs through the forest in pleasant shade – perfect even on warm summer days. Surprising stations appear again and again: Tables and chairs from an enchanted witch’s house, mysterious objects at lofty heights and small tasks that can only be solved with brains. Because the story behind it is as exciting as it is curious: the witch Peppina Glockenkuss made a big mistake in a magic experiment – her little house ended up upside down in the forest, and now it’s time to solve the mystery of her failed magic.
Delicious snack for the little ones at the Kuhalm
About halfway along the route, the Kuhalm offers a great opportunity to take a break with the little ones. Here they can let off steam in the playground while the grown-ups enjoy the view over the mountains of the Serfaus Fiss Ladis region from the “sun terrace”. And then it’s onwards – through shady forests and across flowering meadows – always accompanied by the feeling of being part of a little magical world.
Finale at the Hexenhaus and the Sonnenburg
The big highlight for all little wandering witches and wizards is the witch’s house itself, which lies on the roof – just like it looks after a witch’s accident.
You then continue along a leisurely path to the Sonnenburg family restaurant. Here you can fortify yourself once again and your little ones will receive their certificate as a reward and crowning glory for all the hard-working puzzle solvers. Simply go to the restaurant and show the completed puzzle pad. Alternatively, you can also get the certificate at one of the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis information offices in the valley.
Our conclusion
The Witches’ Trail is an easy, approximately 3 km long hike where the focus is not on distance but on imagination. Ideal for families who want to turn their vacation in our apartment house Fiss into a shared experience.
Back in your vacation apartment, your little ones will have a great time in our lovingly designed children’s playground or on the hotel’s own trampoline on the roof.
Finally, a few tips for hiking along the Witches’ Trail:
- The Hexenweg is not suitable for baby carriages.
- With good hiking boots and a little sure-footedness, it is also easy for the little ones to master.
- If you take your time, explore the stations and plan a break at the Kuhalm, you should allow around 2 to 2.5 hours.
So: lace up your hiking boots, pack your puzzle pad – and off you go on an adventure full of witchcraft, family time together and a magical vacation home in our apartment house in the heart of Fiss!
“We wish you lots of fun on your family adventure and send you our warmest regards from your apartment Haus Sonnenterrasse, the charming vacation apartment in Fiss!”
